CLIL components: Community and Competence

Good afternoon!

The classroom community is a part of the school community. There, the students are motivated to learn how to interact with each other and with the teacher. 

Today we have been speaking about the community and how teachers can approach the students to other communities (local community, national community, global community...). A proper way is bringing the community to the classroom by inviting ‘outsiders’ which can bring the targeted language to the classroom.  Another useful thing we can do is link our students with a school from other country or join a classroom to classroom project such as http://www.epals.com, a site which connects lots of students all over the world.

During the next part of the class we have learned about CLIL teachers competences. We have focused today on ‘cultural awareness’ making teams with the people from our country. The task consisted in creating a mind map including the most representative things of our countries and, after that, making a short presentation to the class. It was very nice learning more things from our classmates’ countries.

Today we have finished our mind map about the CLIL structure lesson adding the last two CLIL components, community and competence. Tomorrow we’ll make the presentation to the class and it is going to be the last task of the project.

After lunch the teacher provided us with information about Multiple Intelligences and we learned more about this theory through different activities. I found it very interesting and useful for my school classes planning.

El aula es una comunidad dentro de la comunidad escolar; en ella, los estudiantes están motivados por aprender a interactuar con sus iguales y su profesor/a.

Hoy hemos estado hablando de cómo los profesores/as pueden acercar a sus alumnos/as a otras comunidades (local, nacional, global...). Una posible forma de hacerlo es acercando la comunidad al aula invitando a personas de fuera que puedan traer el segundo idioma al aula interactuando con nuestros alumnos/as.  Otra propuesta interesante puede ser crear vínculos con otras escuelas de otros países o participar en un proyecto "aula-aula" como http://www.epals.com,  una web que conecta a muchos estudiantes de todo el mundo.

Durante la siguiente parte de la clase hemos aprendido sobre las competencias de un/a profesor/a CLIL. Nos hemos centrado en la "conciencia cultural" haciendo equipos con los compañeros/as de nuestros países.  La tarea consistía en crear un mapa conceptual en el que apareciesen las cosas mas representativas de nuestro país y después hacer una pequeña exposición para nuestros compañeros/as. Me ha gustado mucho aprender mas cosas sobre los países de mis compañeros/as.

Hoy hemos terminado el mapa conceptual de la estructura del tema que estamos haciendo por equipos. Hemos añadido los dos últimos componentes: comunidad y competencia. Mañana presentaremos el trabajo realizado a la clase y esta será la última tarea del proyecto.

Después de comer, la profesora nos dio información sobre las inteligencias múltiples. También hemos trabajado esta teoría a través de diferentes actividades. Me ha parecido muy interesante y útil de cara a programar mis clases.
